The following is an edited excerpt from the Enough-ism Podcast.

“You are enough. You always have been. You always will be. Just as you are,” says spiritual entrepreneur, Keira Poulsen. Keira’s pretty gnarly resume includes owning Freedom House Publishing Co., creating The Awaken Program Mastermind, hosting The Awaken Podcast, and writing the book Rise Up and Awaken to the Joy of Being Human. Keira sat down on the Enough-ism Podcast to talk about her life’s mission: to wake women up to their greatness through the power of writing. Keira specifically helps women publish their own books — in about two months! The focus of this work, however, isn’t about putting pen to paper or fingers to keyboard. It’s about how the process of great writing is the concurrent process of a great awakening. And that the best writing comes from a place of openness, where your flow state is activated and your spirit feels charged up to empower others.

“I teach women how to create successful businesses of light spiritually, from the message in their book,” Keira told Enough-ism. “That way they don’t just write a book, publish it, and then it just, like, ends up in a closet in their house. If there’s a message that needs to come through, it also needs to be a business because that is how you impact the world,” she explained.

“Life is full of dark and light. It is the darkness that we crack open and wake up the light within,” said Keira, who also writes about her own ongoing spiritual journey on Instagram.

Q&A with Keira Poulsen

Enough-ism: What’s your life purpose?

Keira: I feel that we all have this leader inside of us. We all have this brilliance, this power, and this magic. But we forget it’s there. I’m all about creating the space and the communities to help us feel as though we’re safe to wake it back up.

To help people do that, I create masterminds and communities where women feel safe to show up and share their power, light, visions, and their truth. And the things that come to you because when you can practice it in a smaller group where it is safe. This gives you the muscles to then step forward and wake that up in the world.

Enough-ism: I love that. Do you think that women are more preconditioned than men and other genders are to not feel safe?

Keira: For sure. A hundred years ago, women were burned for standing and being prophetesses and powerful women of light. I think this is just the way the world has been — until now.

Now it is safe for women to be bold, to be powerful, to be leaders, and to be successful. What an exciting time to be alive.

Enough-ism: What does that safety look like?

Keira: I think what it looks like or feels like is liberation — when you can speak exactly what is there inside of your heart. To speak when you can lead and when you can create.

And when you finally are feeling safe in who you are and in this greatness and brilliance, that’s the liberation of, “I will be fully who I am and no matter how it lands, no matter how people receive me, no matter how people accept me.”

“Most of us were raised to be people-pleasers — the good girls — who make sure we’re doing things right.”

Most of us were raised to be people-pleasers — the good girls — who make sure we’re doing things right. And not that any of that’s bad, it’s just that it really does confine us. ‘Cause we’re, we’re here to change the world. Women are here to shake things up. Women are here to heal. Women are here to bring this fierce gentleness, and that doesn’t really happen when we’re people-pleasing. That doesn’t really happen when we are trying to be really good.

Enough-ism: I totally agree. Related to that, I know you practice building and maintaining a sacred space for yourself. What does that look like for you and how has creating a sacred space helped you?

Keira: Yeah, sacred space is my core to everything. It’s the core thing that changed my life. And it’s the core thing that I teach every woman I work with. It’s like the ABCs.

And so for me, I believe in finding a space in your home or out back, that you dedicate to the communion with the divine and dedicate to the communion with yourself, your soul.

And in my old house, I had this beautiful closet — it was, like, everything I loved, and I just had all my paintings and all my things and all my crystals. And then when we moved that we didn’t have a spot like that. So I’ve created a moving sacred space. In the summer, I actually have my sacred space outside. In the winter, I actually have it in the back of my pantry. I have this little nook and this pillow I sit on that I put my crystals around. But the practice is the same.

I feel like that’s what is needed right now in the world is more humans having a sacred space.

“When we can create a practice that fuels our soul, that nourishes us and awakens our gifts, everything shifts.”

Enough-ism: So putting it in the back of the pantry, that’s actually kind of powerful, ‘cause you’re always there. You need sustenance, you know, spiritually and food-wise?

Keira: It is the place that I am fed. How interesting. I love that — spiritually and physically I’m fed there.

Enough-ism: Do you have any manifestation techniques?

Keira: I do have one where I sit in my sacred space in the morning. And I feel into the version of myself who’s already done the things that I know I’m here to do, the things that I know I can accomplish. And I sit and I feel her, my future self.

And then I actually like ask her, “How did you get there? What did you do?”

Enough-ism: Tell me something personal about yourself.

Keira: I love to share that I am a mom to five kids — from ages six to 16. I am able to run businesses and raise five kids because I use my spiritual tools in every aspect of my life.

Enough-ism: Tell me why your work to help women unleash their potential through writing is so important and is something everyone can learn from in their own way.

Keira: I know, many people say, “Okay, when my kids are grown, I’ll write my book. When I’m retired, I’ll write my book”. And the truth is, we don’t have time for that.

“I know, many people say, ‘Okay, when my kids are grown, I’ll write my book. When I’m retired, I’ll write my book’. And the truth is, we don’t have time for that.”

The world needs more light and now is the time if you have it in your soul. It’s gotta come out because the world is starving for more light. It’s like thirsty for it. And when we do things spiritually, we’re able to do more.

Enough-ism: For you, what best defines the collective shift happening now across society?

Keira: There’s a lot of dark. There’s a lot of hell and pain and suffering, but there’s this fun light that’s showing up because people are going inwards. People are deciding to do their inner work. That’s what changes the face of humanity. That’s what shifts our world. That’s what creates freedom and light and happiness.

“People are deciding to do their inner work. That’s what changes the face of humanity. That’s what shifts our world.”

So even though there is so much pain happening, I believe there is an awakening that’s occurring, and that lights me up.
